Finding the perfect study spot can make all the difference in your academic success and overall well-being. Whether you’re looking for a serene sanctuary, a bustling hub, or a cozy corner, The University’'s campus offers a variety of ideal locations to suit your study needs. From the tranquil corners of Mullen Library to the vibrant energy of The Pryz, here are the top five study spots on campus that will help you stay focused, inspired, and productive throughout the semester.
5.) Leahy Hall
Let’s face it: sometimes your studying continues into the late hours of the night, well past when Mullen and other spots on campus have closed. That’s where Leahy Hall comes in. Unlike Mullen Library, the computer lab in Leahy is available 24 hours a day. It offers another great, quiet place outside your dorm room for perfecting your assignments. In addition, several printers are available for when you’re ready to turn in your final draft and have it printed and stapled for class.
4.) Maloney Hall
Home to The Busch School of Business, Maloney Hall was constructed with collaboration between students in mind, making it an ideal spot for forming study groups or working on big projects together. Sit down in one of the many comfy spaces to buckle down for a solo study session, or use one of the Team Rooms to perfect your final presentations.
Perhaps the most prized studying location is the lounge on the second floor. The lounge offers spots for work as well as nearby vending machines and coffee bar that provide all you need for a pick-me-up when you hit the books.
3.) The Pryz
The main perk of The Pryz might seem immediately obvious: its proximity to the on-campus Starbucks. Although the caffeine fix is appealing, there are many other reasons why we love this hub of student life as a place to study. There are places to sit and work wherever you turn in The Pryz, both inside and outside. Wherever you find your focus, there’s a spot here for you. When you need a break, stretch your legs, grab a bite to eat at the Food Court, and yes – caffeinate at the Starbucks on the top floor.
2.) Outside
Did you know that ÃÛÌÒÉç boasts one of the greenest campuses in Washington, D.C.? So enjoy it while the weather is nice! With plenty of green spaces, benches, and picnic tables, you can enjoy some sunshine as you study. Some of our favorite locales on campus include the expansive Pryz patio, the shaded tables at the entrance of Crough Center, and the lawn outside Garvey Hall.
1.) Mullen Library
The Mullen Library, located at the center of ÃÛÌÒÉç, is an ideal spot for Cardinals to crack open their books. The multi-floor library features plenty of secluded spaces perfect for solitary study sessions, including multiple reading rooms. There’s even a silent study area on the third floor if you need peace and quiet while you work. In addition to the perfect study spots that Mullen offers, there is also an abundance of resources to assist you if you need help.
Need help polishing your papers? The Writing Center is right there. Having trouble with a calculus formula? The Math Center is on the second floor. Not only are the resources available at Mullen ideal for studying, but the stunning architecture also inspires greatness. We’re not biased or anything, but Mullen Library is picture-perfect.
