������ celebrated its inaugural December Commencement on December 13, 2024, marking a historic milestone for the institution. The ceremony featured graduates from 11 schools who received degrees ranging from associate to doctoral level.

Executive Vice President and Provost Aaron Dominguez delivered the commencement address, reminding graduates of the distinctive nature of the education they received.  “Catholic education isn’t simply about theology or philosophy, though those are essential components. It’s not just attending Mass or receiving the sacraments, though these nourish our spiritual lives,” he said. “It's about seeing the interconnectedness of knowledge, from the humanities to the sciences, and understanding how each discipline illuminates the human condition and our place within God’s creation.”

Dominguez shared personal insights from his work as a physicist, emphasizing how scientific discovery and faith complement each other in the search for knowledge and meaning.

Although this was a more intimate gathering than spring Commencement, the ceremony included traditional elements such as the University prayer delivered by University Chaplain and Vice President for Ministry and Mission Father Aquinas Guilbeau, O.P., and the National Anthem performed by graduating music student Farren Christ. Mary Card Mina, president of ������’s Alumni Association, welcomed the newest members to a global network of nearly 100,000 alumni.

In his closing remarks, President Kilpatrick encouraged graduates to embrace their unique calling, citing St. John Henry Newman: “God has created me to do Him some definite service... I have my mission.” He reminded the Class of 2024 that they join a legacy of ������ alumni who have carried the University’s mission into diverse professional fields.

The evening concluded with the singing of the alma mater and a benediction, followed by a reception in the atrium. This December ceremony represents ������’s commitment to recognizing student achievement and expanding opportunities to celebrate academic accomplishments throughout the academic year.
