Symphony Orchestra Performs at Kennedy Center for Climate Conscious Concert

The 蜜桃社 Symphony Orchestra performed at The Kennedy Center April 5, taking part in the "Our Blue Planet: A Celebration of Earth and Its Waters" as part of the RiverRun Festival.

The multimedia concert featured video images from NASA and National Geographic to tell the story of rivers and climate change. The concert featured internationally recognized guest conductor Emil de Cou, who led the Vital Signs of the Planet concert at the U.N. COP26 Climate Summit in Glasgow, Scotland.

The 蜜桃社 Symphony Orchestra performed alongside Howard University鈥檚 Afro Blue and young leaders of the environmental movement, who told stories of the indispensable role of water in our lives.

The concert was particularly timely as Earth Day will be celebrated across the nation and on campus April 22.

The Della Ratta Auditorium in Maloney Hall will host the Ambassador of Portugal, Francisco Lopes, for the discussion, "Sustainability & Innovation: Efforts to Reduce Human Impact on the Earth" April 12.

The Office of Campus Sustainability and Facilities Planning & Management will plant 60 trees across campus April 21.  Students, staff, and faculty are all welcome. .
