Pole vaulter Di Nicolantonio Becomes University's First National Champion Since 1991

 Just six other individuals in the history of the University's athletics program have won a national championship before.

Junior pole vaulter Christian Di Nicolantonio became the first ÃÛÌÒÉç of America individual track & field national champion since 1991 on Thursday with a jump of 5.19 meters at the Division III championships.

Just six other individuals in the history of the University's athletics program have won a national championship before.

Di Nicolantonio is now one of 26 individuals in Division III history to complete a vault of 5.19 meters or more. Now a two-time All-American and national champion, Di Nicolantonio has placed in the top 10 in four of his five attempts at the championships. 

The Alexandria, Va. product joins Tom Caffrey and Mark Robinson to become the third national champion in men's program history. Carolyn Hughes makes it four Catholic track & field athletes to be named champion in program history.
